Need Step By Step Instructions on putting my VB on my LAN

Post by Pr0oph »

Hi Please help me by providing me step by step instructions on how I can get my virtual box running pepermint on my lan.

My goal is to use my virtualbox peppermint OS as a webserver, but it need internet access thru my default gateway (linksys router) and to have an IP of 192.168.50.*** so that I can port forward port 80, 3306, etc on my linksys router so traffic coming from the web will be able to view my website being hosted on my peppermint OS virtual box....i'm really just guessing on how to do this with no success....Can someone please provide me with step by step instructions on how to do this task??? I can provide what ever other info is necessary. I am a Junior Linux Admin, and I am ripping my hair out trying to get this done

also from my windows host I can ping Eth2 192.168.56.103
and from my peppermint OS guest virtual box I can ping 192.168.50.3

Any Help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank You!!!

I would switch to Bridged in the guest instead of NAT and Host only.
Then you will be in the same subnet and it will be easy to forward to the guest

i switched to bridged connection from NAT on the peppermint linux virtual box, and i still have those same IP's after restarting networking services and restarting the machine...its the same 2 IP's i listed on the original post for the virtual box...

Remove anything other than the first adapter, and make sure it is set to Bridged. You may need to delete the guests /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules and reboot the guest to clear up the previous configs.
