How can I check in a Ubuntu VirtualBox if the GuestAdditions have been installed correctly?

Windows: XP
VirtulBox: 4.2.0
Ubuntu: 12.04

Thanks
Alex

Hi,

so /var/log/vboxadd-install.log contain a lot of messages. I assume I have the GuestAdditions enabled right now.

But I seem to have the problem that I have to install the guest additions after each boot of the VirtualBox Ubuntu system.

When I just start the Ubuntu VirtualBox: copy/paste clipboard does no work.

Then I install the guest additions (again): copy/paste clipboard now works.

So do I have to repeat this step each time I start the VirtualBox or is there a more advanced way of avoiding installing the GuestAdditions each time?

Thanks
Alex

if you need to install the additions each time then the guest must have something corrupt or a permission issue that is not allowing the additions to be saved.

Hi,

thank you very much for this interesting information. Can you also tell me how I can find out exactly and fix this issue?

Thank you very much,
