Hi,

after I managed to resize the partition/hard drive/image/whateverof the Ubuntu 12.04 in a VirtualBox (VirtualBox 4.2.0 in Windows XP) I got the message:

The system is running in low-graphics mode

I click on "Reconfigure graphics" which show me two options:

- Use default (generic) configuration
- Use your backed-upconfiguration

Both both options just return to the same menu. I have a large xserver log file, which I am unable to post right now.

Chosing te point "Run in low-graphics mode for just one session" gives

Stand by one minute while the display restarts hangs

but nothing happens, it hangs indefinitively. But I am able to login to a console.

Any ideas how I can fix this? Or should I just remove everything and install a new Ubuntu box from scratch? Does this have to do with the resizing of the VirtualBox? (It must be, because I had not had this eror before. )

Hi,

I am sorry for the re-post as I thought someone removed my post. Only while I was searching for a solution for the problem myself (without success) I found my original post moved to the Linux Guests Forum.

Maybe it IS a problem with Linux only, but it is no problem at all with drivers etc, because everything worked just fine just before I resized the space on the hard drive for the Linux image.

Hi,

I just realized that this problem might very well have to do with windows.

Anyway, I checked the space on the device, which showed me Available 0 and Use% 100% (Used 4.0 G)

But when looking in

Settings->Storage-> SATA-Controller -> Ubuntu.vdi I see that the Actual size is 4.37 GB and the Virtual Size is 19.53 GB. Di I miss something here?

SOLVED:

Problems caused because too less disk space was availble.

Can you please share the solution.
