We had some issues with our Windows SBS 2008 today and the hardware NIC became unattached from the box...it half the day to get things figured out. During the review we noted that some legacy (hidden) references to Virtual Box Bridged NIC Driver Miniport cannot be removed from the system...when I disabled it...it also took the primary hardware NIC offline thus harming the server.
What is at work here and what do I need to understand about how this is embedded now. When I tried to right click and remove it...nothing happened!
I believe I should sleeping dogs lie on this one but we have no idea why the primary NIC failed and thus wanted to remove any instance of VB and the virtual bridged NIC because we do not use VB on this server anymore...it was only installed as backup solution.
