Unable to start Guest (win7) from ssd

Installed a new 128GB ssd on my MBP Host:10.7.5 Lion. Installed new Virtualbox also to ssd, however /users folder linked from old drive with my guest op (win7). Now I have two drive, no superdrive. Both drive bootable.
I would like to start my guest op from ssd, but failed. I made clone and export appliance when booting from old hd, later booting from ssd and try to import appliance but failed:
One guest on VB start, but no guest op found, asking installation disk. I am not able reinstall Windows 7 because I do not have superdrive (DVD) anymore.
When I try to import appliance It says: Failed to import appliance /Volumes/MacintoshHD/Users/svaradi/Documents/Win7.ova. Could not create the directory '/Users/svaradi/VirtualBox VMs/Win7' (VERR_ACCESS_DENIED).
I don't know why denied access, however I have full access to /Users/svaradi folder.....
Please help me, how can I run my existing guest op from ssd. BTW if I boot from the second drive (this is currently in place of the superdrive) every installed guest op is working properly. Later an I would like to move my guest partition on the ssd in order to run it faster. I hope it is possible:)
Thank you.

You can't have full access if access is being denied. Stop thinking there's a bug, confirm that this user account has create and write access to that folder.

I checked again my access to /users/svaradi/VirtualBox VM folder. I can write in this folder and any other subfolder also. I just grabbed a file from anywhere and put in /VirtualBox VM folder without any problem. If you think somewhere is a hidden file with permission restriction, please let me know and I will correct it.
Here is the file structure in Terminal:
Steves-MacBook-Pro:VirtualBox VMs svaradi$ ls -l
total 0
drwxr-xr-x 6 svaradi staff 204 Oct 7 15:10 Win7
drwx------ 6 svaradi staff 204 Oct 5 20:00 Win7 Clone
Steves-MacBook-Pro:Win7 svaradi$ ls -l
total 64
drwxr-xr-x 7 svaradi staff 238 Oct 7 15:10 Logs
-rw------- 1 svaradi staff 12632 Oct 5 19:08 Win7.vbox
-rw------- 1 svaradi staff 12632 Oct 5 12:53 Win7.vbox-prev
As I see -rw-------- read and write, correct??
Please let me know how can I change the permission for this folder if this is the problem.
Thanks.

My second attemp failed. I changed permission to 775 for Win7 folder:
Steves-MacBook-Pro:VirtualBox VMs svaradi$ chmod 775 Win7
Steves-MacBook-Pro:VirtualBox VMs svaradi$ ls -le
total 0
drwxrwxr-x 6 svaradi staff 204 Oct 7 15:24 Win7
Failed to import appliance /Volumes/Macintosh HD/Users/svaradi/Documents/Win7.ova.
Could not create the directory '/Users/svaradi/VirtualBox VMs/Win7' (VERR_ACCESS_DENIED).
Result Code:
VBOX_E_IPRT_ERROR (0x80BB0005)
Component:
Appliance
Interface:
IAppliance {3059cf9e-25c7-4f0b-9fa5-3c42e441670b}
Any help would be highly appreciated.

Sorry, I'm not a Mac user so I can only point you in a general direction. You'll need to wait for a helpful Mac user to come along to offer detailed advice.

What is your access to "/Volumes/MacintoshHD/Users/svaradi/Documents/"?

I have "read, write, execute" to /Documents folder. Here is the specific file:
-rw------- 1 svaradi staff 5379297280 Oct 5 13:09 Win7.ova
Still no progress.
Thanks.

Try this
1. Create Test93.sh on your desktop with contents of
Code: Select all
#!/bin/sh
if [ $# -eq 0 ]; then
echo "Usage: test92 UserId"
echo " where UserId is your UserId"
exit 65
fi
if [ $(whoami) != $1 ]; then
echo "current User: " $(whoami)
echo " Not User: " $1
fi
## /Volumes/MacintoshHD/Users/svaradi/Documents/
Echo ' '
Echo ' '
Echo 'ls -ale /'
ls -ale /
Echo ' '
Echo 'ls -ale /Volumes'
ls -ale /Volumwes
Echo ' '
Echo 'ls -ale /Volumes/MacintoshHD'
ls -ale /Volumes/MacintoshHD
Echo ' '
Echo 'ls -ale /Volumes/MacintoshHD/Users'
ls -ale /Volumes/MacintoshHD/Users
Echo ' '
Echo 'ls -ale /Volumes/MacintoshHD/Users/'$1
ls -ale /Volumes/MacintoshHD/Users/$1
Echo ' '
2. Make it executable
3. In Terminal, execute it
Now, that is your access to Documents?

Thanks for the advice any more idea?

Let's see:
Mac_128SSD is your boot volume.
Are you, by chance, trying to move the vms to another volumes, like your boot volume?

Yes. My boot Volume is Mac_128SSD. I tried to move /Virtualbox Vms, but after I was not able start any guest op from there. See picture:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/49670937@N ... hotostream
Middle of VB panel you see a "Powered off" I can start this, but get back with black window because "No bootable medium found" I can not reinstall win7, because no superdrive any more. Later I'll get a dvd enclosure but I am not sure how can I install win7 from there.
Two other VB are: upper I tried to import Appliance, bottom I tried to start clone version. Both failed.
BTW same result if I try to run from /Volumes/Macintoss HD/Users/svaradi
Thanks for your advice. I still looking for solution to run win7 (better from ssd, if possible)

How did you perform the move/copy - simple copy or some convoluted means?

Move/copy = simple grab and drop, ask root passw . See here:
Steves-MacBook-Pro:Desktop svaradi$ cd /Volumes/Mac_128SSD
Steves-MacBook-Pro:Mac_128SSD svaradi$ ls -le
total 30453

drwxr-xr-x 5 root admin 170 Sep 17 2004 Users
drwxr-xr-x 4 svaradi wheel 136 Oct 7 18:49 VirtualBox VMs
I do not use this Users folder. Despite of the location /VirtualBox VMs can not start guest op (win7) from here.
Thanks.

what is with the import? You stated that that the files are already present.
Machine --> Add

Machine --> Add not show my /VirtualBox VMs folder. Win7.ova file is in the /Documents folder, but Win7.ova file is grayed out (not accessible).
How can I add my installed win7_vm.vbox if in the Add window this is not visible?
That's why I tried to Import Appliance, but failed.
Thanks
