I was able to add two more NICs, when I had Virtualbox on Windows XP (host). I changed the computer and the OS to Windows 8 Enterprise 64-bit. Tried to run the same command on Windows 8, it failed.
Under Windows XP 32-bit (Passed)
VBoxManage modifyvm "Xen-1" --nic5 bridged --bridgeadapter5 vboxnet1 --nictype5 82545EM --cableconnected5 on
Under Windows 8, 64-bit (failed)
VBoxManage modifyvm "Xen-1" --nic5 bridged --bridgeadapter5 vboxnet1 --nictype5 82545EM --cableconnected5 on
VBoxManage.exe: error: Failed to create the VirtualBox object!
VBoxManage.exe: error: Code CO_E_SERVER_EXEC_FAILURE (0x80080005) - Server execution failed (extended info not available)
VBoxManage.exe: error: Most likely, the VirtualBox COM server is not running or failed to start.
Is this 32-bit vs. 64-bit or Windows XP vs. Windows 8 issue?
Any help are welcome.
