VBox 4.2 won't access the internet through a proxy

Hi,

I'm accessing the Internet through either:
- Through a LAN firewall/proxy requiring authentication
- Through local proxy (i.e. installed on localhost) that accesses the Internet by chaining to a SOCKS 5 TOR proxy (the LAN firewall is sometimes too restrictive...) which is installed on localhost as well, requiring no authentication.

If I set the proxy options in Vbox for accessing the Internet through the firewall proxy, and give the right authentication data (hard to misspell, even the password is shown in plain text...) and then let VBox try too look for updates, it will fail after a while stating "Proxy requires authentication".

If I go with the "local" proxy everything goes fine...

It might be that the firewall/proxy is restricting me from accessing Vbox update checking site (though I can't know), but why then stating that the problems is with proxy authentication? Yes, I tried more than once entering the authentication data...

Otherwise I guess it's just something wrong with the way Vbox handles proxy authentication.

By the way, I'm using VBox 4.2.0 r80737 on Win7 pro 64 bit.

Bye

Any hint?
