Sharing Vboxes amongst multiple Active Directory accounts

Post by StaleMounts »

We're using Vbox in a school enterprise setting to run a specific windows application in one of our labs.

Students log into a machine with their active directory credentials and the machine will make a copy of our setup account to create their user profile.

Our struggle is that every ime a user opens the virtual box it'll set the permissions of our .vbox file to that of the user.

The employee who set it up has set up a script that chmods it every two hours from her desk but I'd like to create a more viable option.

Some thoughts were hosting all the vboxes on an external server and having the classes remote into them as needed. But I'd like to implement something on a build level instead.

Any tips on the "proper way" to share vboxes amongst numerous users? Or an alternative to this since we're only trying to run one specific application (i'm unable to create a winewrapper for it at this time).
