64 bit Oracle Linux 6.3 Guest on the Mac Host

It is my first project on VBox.
I develop, using VBox, an Oracle DB based system, which eventually will go to production on real hardware platform. Before starting with VBox, I suggested to use 64 bit Oracle Linux 6.3. Reading VBox manuals I realized that things are not so good and simple. Too much warnings, though they are mostly regard Windows.
I would appreciate if the experts would discuss pro and contra of use 64 bit Linux guest in not-Windows, but the Mac host. (Mac OS X 10.6.8 - the host hardware is 64 bit).
The same about Oracle 6.3 Linux, isn't it too new for VBox 4.2.1
Thanks in advance
