Creating a Linux Web server

Post by gini_2007 »

Hello,

I would like to install CentOS into my virtual box, and make it a webserver. Meaning I want remote servers to be able to access my Linux guest.
If so, do I use the default Virtualbox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter or do I have to use a 10/100 Ethernet connection?

I am currently using a wireless broadband to access the internet. So is this a good option to enable my home made web server for access via remote servers?

How different is setting up a virtual host web server compared to setting up a dedicated server? I know how to setup a normal(dedicated server), but since now, I am setting up a virtual host, I would like to know what are differences?

What are the things that I have to configure to ensure that my virtual web server also works like a normal dedicated server?

*I am using my laptop as the webserver.

Thanks,
Aigini

VirtualBox is only a piece of software emulating a PC.

So there is no difference in installing and setup an OS on real or virtual hardware.

For the network setup look into the manual. I think you must look for NAT with IP forwarding.

But the problems are the external access and the server setup. But both topics have nothing to do with VirtualBox. Here you can ask if you have problems in installing or running an OS in VBOX. Problems with the server software like ftp, mail, web server have to be asked where the software you are using is developed and supported.

You need Bridged Networking. This is so your GUest gets it's own ip from the router.

says"You must be a member for 1 days and have 1 posts before you can post urls." which means i need to have a post and be a member for a day before i can help anyone.. Strangest thing I have ever seen.

Say thank to the spammer assholes. Many forums have some brakes to avoid link spamming.
