Windows2008 install error. Attempt to load 64 bit app

Im running Virtual Box 4.2.1 on a 2008 MacBook with:
2,4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)
I'm trying to run a VM with Windows 2008 Server 64 R2. But on install I get the error:
Trying to load a 64 bit application.however this CPU is not compatible with 64 bit mode.
Is it posible to install it? I have read about the need to activate hardware virtualization on BIOS, but don't think this relates to Mac. If so, how can I do it?

You need to enable VT-x in the VM settings in order to install a 64bit guest.

VT-x is activated in my Virtual Machine.

In that case please post the VM log file, as a zipped attachment please. The log file is called "VBox.log" and can be founds in the "Logs" subfolder of the VM folder.

Actually, I believe you should be able to run a 64bit guest on a 32bit Mac host. The only thing you can't do on a 32bit host is allocate more memory than a 32bit host knows about and can spare, i.e. the guest can only access substantially less than 4GB RAM. This VM uses only 1GB and will probably be ok as far as VBox is concerned. Of course I don't know how happy 64bit Win2k8 will be running with only 1GB of headroom.
@David Casillas: try turning on IO APIC - shouldn't strictly be necessary I think, but most modern 64bit OS's will assume modern hardware, i.e. will assume IO APIC.

You should create a guest where the guest type is set to 64-bit Windows 2008.

Unfortunately seems my model can't boot in 64 bit. Apple site says it clear.
Anyway I tried it following both standar methods described in Apple pages with no success.
Seems it is time to upgrade my machine after 4 years and a half.
Sorry for not posting links but seems that new members can't.
Thanks for the help. Very professional.
