Moving VM guest from one PC to another

Hi everyone,

In the nearest future I'm going to move my virtual machine guest to another's PC virtual machine. I've never done this before so I'm doing some research in order to not be surprised after all. I haven't found any helpful information in VirtualBox manual. Only some tips at this forum, but still I'm not dead sure whether I am doing everything right. Nevertheless, forgive me if there was exactly the same question posted before. I've done my best to search whole board.

My Fedora guest (to be moved) is based on an image of Fedora 17 x86 downloaded from virtualboxes.org website [link]. My host operating system is Windows 7 64-bit and I'm moving to another Windows 7 64-bit system.

I've made a clone of that image in order to get rid of snapshots I'd taken in the past. The clone has been made with VirtualBox 4.1.22 and after whole operation I'll use the newest version currently available - VirtualBox 4.2.

How should it be done? Do I have to copy only the C:\Users\USERNAME\VirtualBox VMs\Fedora folder content? So, in my case:
  • Logs folder
  • Snapshots folder
  • Fedora.vbox file
  • Fedora.vbox-prev file
  • Fedora-disk1.vdi file
And how am I going to 'attach' copied Fedora to destination system's VirtualBox? Just run 'Create new virtual machine' wizard and point at copied .vdi file when asked about virtual disk? Also, is there any particular thing I should bear in mind before taking off?

Thank you in advance! :)

copy the complete folder to the new machine and then use add and click on the *.vbox file.

Seems to work pretty fine. Thank you. :)
