Is this possible?

Hi,
I am new to using VirtualBox. I am running Linux hosts. In my lab, I have a computer running Windows XP which controls some scientific instrumentation. I would like to put a second drive in this WinXP computer, install Linux on the second hard drive, and then running the pre-existing Windows XP installation (with its own physical hard drive) as a VirtualBox guest hosted by the newly installed Linux distrubution. Is it possible to do this -- take preexisting WinXP computer and virtualize it in the manner I described above?
For what its worth further hardware detail: The Window XP controls the instrument via serial ports and has two network cards,
Thanks for any advice.
Regards,
Paul
