Virtual Network between 2 VMs not working

Post by ludwig »

Hi all,

I am pretty new to Virtualbox and still learning my way...
I have created 2 VMs based on Windows 2008 R2 SP1 sucessfully.
Everything works I can connect to each of the VMs and perform on them...great!
Now I like to set up a Virtual network...I went to settings/network/adapter 2 and just used Internal Network in Attached to and confirmed. I did this on both VMs restarted them and can not reach one VM from the other via ping.
Ping says: timeout

Did I forget a config step?
How to troubleshoot this?

I am working with VM 4.1

Would very much appreciate your help...

Thank you
Ludwig

That just gives you a network. Have given the NICs IP addresses etc?

Also note that firewalls will block ping, even built-in ones.

In Windows you configure networking from the Network and Sharing Center. Go there and see how the NICs are configured (or do an ipconfig at a command prompt).
