Hello,
I didn't install this initially because I thought the less the better. Is this foolish? Should all guest OSs have Guest Additions installed?
I wasn't particularly interested in the added bennefits outlined here:
http://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch04.html
...but maybe there are undocumented advantages that I am not aware of.
Are there any downsides or negative affects of Guest Additions?
I have been experiencing issues with both USB and networking on the guest. Basically, poor response times or temporarily failing altogether. Long story. I'm asking about GA so that I can find out if it is safe to try installing in hopes that it fixes these issues.
Any info regarding Guest Additions and SBS 2011 would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Not really. I always install them. Guest additions are simply "enhancements" to make the OS run better in a virtual machine.
