VBox 4.2 - Arch Linux - video problems with blender

I'm kind of lost finding a solution to this.
Since upgrading to VBox 4.2 running blender on Arch Linux there is no solid view. I can see wire frame stuff and renders but not textured or solid views.
The system-info.txt output from blender :
OpenGL
=============================================
renderer: 'Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe (LLVM 0x301)'
vendor: 'VMware, Inc.'
version: '2.1 Mesa 8.0.4'
==================
On a Fedora 17 VM the renderer is Chromium and it works fine.
I guess the guest additions install script worked differently on the different distros but what did it or didn't it do on Arch as opposed to Fedora to create this problem?
