I have Windows XP guest on a Mac OS host system and when I try to access websites that are password protected with htaccess using Internet Explorer, it tells me that it can’t connect to the site and shows a button for diagnosing connection problems. However, there are no connection problems as unprotected sites work perfectly, and even protected sites work in other browsers than IE. What could be the problem? I didn’t even know how to search for possible solutions to this which is why I’m asking here.
