Moving a real linux env to virtual box

Post by stevendobbs »

Hello,

I have of course googled this and checked the forum but perhaps I don't know what I am searching for.

I need to move a staging linux environment to a virtual box vm. Any suggestions on how to do this?

best regards
Steve

You need to make an image of the entire Linux hard disk, with your preferred Linux disk imaging tool. Probably the easiest - though it requires the most working space - is to use CloneZilla to create a raw image, then use CloneVDI with the Compact option enabled, to convert raw to VDI. For CloneVDI see sticky at the top of this forum.
