Serious bug in version 4.2.0 ?

I have installed VBox version 4.2.0 on Windows 7 and on Windows XP.
Base language: german

2 CPUs with each 4 cores (Xeon) with VT, ... (hardware is on in bios)

In the default settings for a virtual machine, there is: 1 CPU

and its not possible to change this.

With this low hardware, i cannot use VBox

In former version 4.1.18, there was no such restriction (at same hardware, host-OS)

Is this a bug or do i have overlook any settings

So, i am back to version 4.1.8

Make sure VT-x is enabled in the BIOS (yes, I know what you said: check again). Make sure IO APIC is enabled in the VM settings.

If you want to continue this discussion then provide a VM log file as a zipped attachment. The VM log file is called "VBox.log" and can be found in the "Logs" subfolder of the VM folder.

Anyway, I'm curious: what are you doing that can't work without multiple cores? You aren't one of those guys who thinks that 2 CPUs == 2x faster than 1 CPU are you?

Also, 4.1.8 does not allow guest SMP without VT-x any more than 4.2.0 does...
