Starcraft and Windows 7

A few days ago I had a problem with starting windows 7, but I thought it went away on its own. Turns out I can't run any operating system while there is a CD in my computer and I am running it. Does this always happen when using virtual box? Or is this something specific to me that needs to be fixed.
