This is not really a new bug, it has been present ever since I have been using Fedora and VirtualBox...
When I attempt to resume a saved image the boot process starts ok and I wind up with a white screen and
have to force restart the vm.
I don't have any problems if I shutdown the vm each time and then reboot.
I filed a bug about this a long time ago... ( bugzilla 9429).
Does anyone know any info on this problem?

Only that if you log out before saving the state it works properly, just not if you save state while in session. Note this is only observed when using Gnome3.

I misspoke.... I am running Fedora 16 as the guest and if I logout and save the state then
when I restart I get the white screen of oblivion...
VMWare is able to bring up Fedora 17 from a saved state ( into gnome 3
