Help with an error

Post by Ghaleon »

First off I apologize if I am posting this in the wrong place but I was unable to search after multiple tries. I recently had a power failure while running virtual box on win7 ultimate with it having xp installed. After I turned the pc back on and tried to run virtual box I get this error.

Failed to create the VirtualBox COM object.

The application will now terminate.

Start tag expected, '<' not found.

Location: 'C:\Users\Jon/.VirtualBox\VirtualBox.xml', line 1 (0), column 1.

D:\tinderbox\win-4.1\src\VBox\Main\src-server\VirtualBoxImpl.cpp[484] (VirtualBox::init).

Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component: VirtualBox
Interface: IVirtualBox {c28be65f-1a8f-43b4-81f1-eb60cb516e66}

Is there any way to fix this? I kind of had something important running on the machine and I'd be really awesome if I can fix it. it would save almost 48 hours of work.

Edit:Having looked through multiple threads I am still unsure of what to do. I have tried forums.virtualbox.(org)/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=40066 (sorry it wouldn't let me post this) the tools found here all say tabctl32.ocx or one of it's dependencies not correctly registered:a file is missing or invalid". I can't seem to get oracle to do anything. I have read fixes are to just mount the vdi in a new system, however I can't get oracle to load at all. the only thing the program does is start and give me the same error. Is there anything I can do for this, please? even reinstalling oracle does the same thing. I am completely at a loss.
