FAIL: Upgrade 4.1.18 to 4.1.22 Uninstalled nVidia drivers

Just FYI, I will try to solve this myself, but here is my current state

Running version 4.1.18 r78361
OS: Windows 7
Antivirus: Symantic Endpoint Protection

Upgrade from web download to 4.1.22-80657-Win.exe

The install progress bar stopped at the end of the bar, and a message about nVidia drivers needing to be downgraded to the last working version was displayed. I allowed the nVidia drivers to be uninstalled, which asked for a reboot. Now I have no nVidia drivers (I have 2 cards, one with 4 ports, one with 2) and only a single monitor output using the Standard VGA windows 76 Driver.

When I start my virtual box, I get the message: Nonexistent networking interface, name 'Broadcom NetLink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet' (VERR_INTERNAL_ERROR)

Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component: Console
Interface: IConsole {1968b7d3-e3bf-4ceb-99e0-cb7c913317bb}

Grr . . .

and my virtual box did not update.

Result: uninstllation of my video drivers without a re-installation
VM machine drivers no longer working.

Suggest that the Windows install script tell the user how to downgrade the nVidia drivers instead of trying to do it by itself.

===== UPDATE =====

Up and running again. For those who follow, here is what I did to recover:

Downloaded the 4.1.22 (previous install was a run from web)
Install reported that an installation for Oracle VM VirtualBox 4.1.18 was suspended.
I allowed an undo of the changes.
Was able to run my virtual box (Ethernet cards drivers were installed)

Went to the nVidia web site, downloded drives for my Graphics cards. Ver 306.23 for GeForce NVS 295, GeForce 8400 GS (x2).

Everything is operational again.

The guest doesn't need nVidia drivers, whether upgraded or downgraded - because the guest doesn't have an nVidia graphics card.

The host was windows 7, which uses nVidia drivers.
The guest was Fedora (running within virtual box).
The issue appeard when the VirutalBox upgrade uninstalled the nVidia drivers from the host.

Hummm,

I suspect something else is your issue. There is nothing in the VirtualBox installer that removes any driver from the host.

OK. Must have been a conincidence about the driver uninstall.
