Hi all,

I had a problem with my last laptop and my current laptop where it took around a minute or so to boot while sitting on a blank black screen. I thought it was something to do with graphics drivers, however after format/reinstalling a couple of months ago the problem went away... until I installed virtualbox again and now it is back.

I had a look around for anyone else mentioning long boots or black screens and virtualbox but I couldn't find anything, although perhaps I'm just blind.

If it isn't a known issue, how can we start a bug submission?

Current laptop it is installed on details:

Sony VPCCB
Intel i5 2410M
Atheros AR8151 PCI-E Gigabit
Atheros AR9285 Wireless
AMD Radeon HD 6630M / intel HD
8GB RAM
Windows 7 Home Premium (up to date)
Latest Stable version of virtualbox
Should be all relevant information?

"Latest stable version of VirtualBox" is a matter of opinion and changes with time. Please state the exact version and where you downloaded it from.

A log from any VM is sometimes useful to answer other minor questions about your setup. The VM log file is called "VBox.log", and can be found in the "Logs" subfolder of one of your VM folders. Post as a zipped attachment please.

If a VirtualBox driver affects the host boot then a network problem of some kind is the only thing I can think of.

This has happened to me on machines for over two years now - I said latest stable version as it hasn't been limited to one version. Always downloaded from the Sun/Oracle website.

It has persisted even after uninstalling Virtualbox, which either means it hasn't removed itself cleanly (I'm thinking something in the network drivers its been messing with) or something else is causing this, however I went travelling for two months without any boot problems (boot is almost instant; clean install/SSD) and I get this again only after I installed Virtualbox.

I've attached the log file from the one VM I had set up before uninstalling. Its small, so I didn't zip it.
