Get Info (Macintosh HD) reporting incorrect info

Post by BBurgSteve »

I'm running a WIndows Vista guest on an external USB3.0 HDD, which I have set at a 128GB dynamic maximum.

I am not having any issues running Windows with this set up, but what is happening is that when I right click on my Macintosh HD and Get Info, it reports that I have 175 GB free on a 120.47 GB HDD. Obviously this is impossible, and I've pretty much narrowed it down to my VBox set up. I believe my Mac is seeing the 'free space' on the VDI as free space on the internal HDD.

MacBook Air 5.1 (Mid-2012), 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD, MacOSX 10.8.1
External Drive is a USB3.0 500GB WD My Passport Portable Drive.

Is there any way to correct this?

Edit: Issue was self-resolved. Just happened to coincide with the installation of VBox. Nothing to see here. Move along. 8)

Are you sure it isn't seeing the free space on the external drive?

Yeah... I figured it out. It was local time machine snapshots. Just happened to coincide with the installation of VBox. Made a physical Time Machine backup, disabled Snapshots, restarted and now my Get Info has been corrected.
