hello and help,
I started getting this error again. So, I tried a fresh clean install of VB and a fresh backup image of Windows R2 but I still keep gettings this error.(link has entire .txt log)
http://www.wikiupload.com/R3YJ44T5J2TTJS3
I am able to open up all VMs the first time but once I close down the VMs I can't reopen them.
Server is bare bones, No Roles, No features, and NO Hyper V installed.
I have plenty of ram, Cpu power, fresh Install (different os same thing)
I'm not as good as you guys but I can only guess maybe it my Nvidia Gaming Video card?
GeForce GTX 550Ti possible problems?

Re: Guru Meditation -4011 (VERR_VMX_IN_VMX_ROOT_MODE)
We'll I'd like to say that I found a temp fix.
I went to bare bones on CPU settings at just ONE.
Now, I can't replicate these error. I've been trying for 1/2 hour opening all VMs as fast as possible..closing them and repeat.
Why does only one CPU work?
Is this a Microsoft thing or my CPUS?
Update: changed to 10,10,4,4,4,1 still no crash.
Update 2: CPU now at 4,4,4,4,4,4 still no crash.
Vram at 256,256,256,256,256 still no crash
Then it must be Nvidia Driver update I took before I reduced my CPU to 1. I only installed the Driver and nothing else. No 3D or the updater nag. PhyX not installer.
Could it be the nvidia Driver then? I rolled back 5/15/2012 vr 8.17.13.142 now working? Someone please look at my logs to confirm this.
I badly want this stable.

Re: Guru Meditation -4011 (VERR_VMX_IN_VMX_ROOT_MODE)
VMX_IN_VMX_ROOT_MODE means that you tried to run a VM with the VT-x option enabled, but it can't run because some other software is already using VT-x. That would be another VM platform, or a system debugger etc, or some kind of development environment.

Re: Guru Meditation -4011 (VERR_VMX_IN_VMX_ROOT_MODE)
It happened again this Am. After a cold start.
I will take your advice and I will kill every single process until I can pinpoint the problem. Hyper V was not installed in this Fresh OS. see what I have.
So here's the before Task manager:
something in the gif is causing the problem.

Re: Guru Meditation -4011 (VERR_VMX_IN_VMX_ROOT_MODE)
I tried safe mode but no go for VB.
Then I did configsys and loaded just the basics.
here is my task manager with minimal processes.....Still crashing but Only if I load VMs fast.
I have no clue as to what is causing this> I do know that If I load the VMs very fast this happens.
Uninstaller MS Virus defender, Nivida Sound HDMI drivers, FX Drivers, I disabled 3d and 2d in each VM
Vt-x is either not available on your host or disabled. (Verr_Raw_Mode_Invalid_SMP) E_FAIL (ox800004005)

Re: Guru Meditation -4011 (VERR_VMX_IN_VMX_ROOT_MODE)
Finally Solved! lets hope it is. Its been a few hours now testing.
What I did before that did not work:
<------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
- Reinstalled the OS R2 08 - Still had Crashed before
- Only installed Nvidia drivers (removed any startup helpers in > system configuration) - Still had Crashed before
- reinstalled virtual Box latest version VirtualBox 4.1.20 for Windows hosts
- Reformatted my D: Drive and rebuilt fresh as Raid 0 with 5 disks.
<------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
What I did that could of fixed the problem:
<------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
- Reinstalled the OS R2 08 - Still had Crashed before but I did not take updates from 8/14/2012 - present
- Used Raid 6 instead of Raid 0 (Raid zero is faster but could of caused problem with striping)
- used Virtual Box Version 4.1.18 r78361
- Loaded nvidia Drivers again but helpers added themselves (works so I left it alone)
- Rebuilt 10 VMs from external backup- Loaded just the .VDI file to D:\Virtual Machines
- Swap file for D:\ now System managed which now is 26 gigs - C:\ none SSD OCZ Vertex 3>>> Space remaining on D:\ 200 Gigs with only 10 Vms
<------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
testing time 2 hours of opening and closing Vms. Result could not replicate error. priceless
I will log any MS updates and note changes.
Also will note hardrive Space including swap spacing. intentionally use up free space.
I will then update VB to latest version and note changes
Bios never touched
I hope this helps someone as VirtualBox is really worth it.
UPDATED 9/5/2012 Updated VB to latest Version 4.1.20 r80170 - reported crashes after time Guru meditation after video- arc=vbox_E_IPRT_error (0x80bb0005)00:00:01.152 !! {vgatext}

I have a problem that Nivida helpers keep adding in Windows task manager even with bare driver.

Conclusion: If VMs are opened one at a time, no crash indicating that a resource used is not released fast enough. A Delay of a few seconds per opening VM solves the problem.

Ok, found the exact cause of the above error. If any error occurs I will post afterwards if not its closed.
Nivida Gaming Video Card GTX 550 Ti - causes crashes in VB latest version 4.1.20 and previous version VirtualBox 4.1.18 (released Jun 20th 2012) windows It does however work in Hyper V for testing compatibility.
Switched (Pulled)Video Card from my Dell T5400 Quadro FX570 and also tested in T5400 system with no errors.
Thus, if you experienced the above error with "VGA" try swapping out video card first and save a boat load of time.
Hope this helps someone with Nivida Gaming Cards.
