Win7 Bootcamp Issue

Post by Telli »

I am trying to run Windows 7 from my bootcamp partition with virtualbox: i unmounted the partition, changed permissions for the drive, created a raw disk image and then changed the permissions to the newly created files, then i created a new VM and added the vmdk under the IDE controller and changed the type to ich6; i already tried to change some options like the number of cores available or video memory or hardware acceleration but everytime i get a BSOD saying BAD_POOL_CALLER; i tried booting into safe mode but it doesn't work. Any suggest is really appreciated. A year ago i succeeded creating this VM but this is not the same Win7 i used before.

My Mac is a Macbook pro 5,3 (mid 2009) with a 3,06 GHz core 2 duo, 8 GB Ram, 750 HDD 7200 rpm

You did not mention what version of VirtualBox nor what version of MacOS X you were using. But, here is a method of doing this that worked for me:

One thought I had after re-reading your post is the fact that I only was able to get this to work on the 32Bit version of Windows 7. I had previously tried a 64bit version and was not able to get it to come up. Thats not to say that a 64bit version will not work, I had just given up on that and reinstalled my Bootcamp partition with a 32bit version of windows. I had done this sometime ago when my Mac was still running Snow Leopard. So I have not tried a 64bit version recently. I don't remember now what the symptoms of the problem were, it was so long ago.

My 64 bit host and guest seem to work mostly fine, except for the bootcamp control panel. 3d graphics is unstable. (specs in sig)
