Clipboard has never worked for me

I suppose you already know that the clipboard sharing has a problem. In my case, shared clipboard is set to bidirectional.
What could I be doing wrong? I have installed the latest virtualbox as of today.
Win7-64 host, win8 guest.

Have you tried any other guest other than Windows 8?
Do the guest/s have the guest additions properly installed?

Installing guest additions fixed the problem thank you. It's funny that the ui offers this setting but it doesn't actually work until you install the guest additions.
