scp: No space left on device

I'm trying to copy the oracle installation zips from my windows host to my fedora guest and I ran out of room! Do I need to delete that instance of the fedora installation and create a new VM and install fedora again? How can I just increase the size of the storage?

When I created the fedora VM, I chose all the defaults. When I click properties for the storage in the VirtualBox, it says my virtual size is 8GB and my actual size is 3.89 GB.

When I type "df" on the fedora guest, it says 508745 1K blocks and 60524 Used and 422631 available /dev/sda1.

I'm confused. I did get a pop up message that said home had no space available. What is going on?

/dev/mapper/vg_fedora17-lv_root has 5311376 1 kblocks and 6248132 used 100% use. What the heck is that device?

It would be very nice if I did not have to re-install fedora!

OK, I just read http://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/virt ... disks.html and it says I have to buy a third party tool? Is that true? It sounds easier to just create a new virtual machine with more disk space. I guess my question is: Am I really using all 8GB? Why does virtual box say the actual size is 3.89 GB?

I also read viewtopic.php?f=6&t=22422&hilit=clonevdi and it looks like that copies (clones) disks -- do I want that? I want to expand the disk I have.

looks like you need to create a larger new disk. you have limited space available. Now let me ask you this. are copying and pasting in a 32 bit OS? If so your sol as 3.5 gigs max copy and paste size. If 64bit os then copy and paste is no problem with no limits. 32-bit OS max out at < 4GB. You need 64-bit OS to go over 4GB

(NumBlocks*1024)/2^20 will yield MegaBytes
(NumBlocks*1024)/2^30 will yield GigaBytes

Anyway, you will need to get that vm to a brand new larger disk ( one that will hold at least 8+ something gigs. )

Kinda tight at 8 gigs of space. Today my bills won't fit on 8 gigs. :0
