Hi,
It's been discussed but not resolved. -at least not for me-

I have a Thinkpad T61 runing perfectly fine, with 8GB RAM and a Intel T9400

My Host is in 64b ... smooth and neat

In a way to use MediaMonkey and avoid Wine, I've a VM to run XP.
I'm using the straight from Oracle VirtualBox, not the one in Suse package.

The VM is runing well, but no sound. Too bad as it is one of the main reason I'm running it !!

I've tried several combination, Null, OSS, ICH, blah blah blah, but still nothing. The sound straight from my host is clear and loud (JukeBox) but the sound from my Guest in almost inaudible. I have to push the setup of VLC to 200% to hear an impression of a sound

The sound chip is SoundMax on the Thinkpad motherboard.

Any suggestion ?

I was sure I've gone through the entire list of possibilities

BUt While waiting for an answer from this board, I went through it again and after about 20 times shutting down the virtual machine, changing the sounds settings, then starting it again, trying sound, shutting down to move to the next setting possibility .... I finally found that

on a Thinkpad T61
with SoundMax,
the setting ALSA Audio dvr with ICH AC97

Works !
