Mouse dont work on alternative logins to Winxp guest

Have Windows 7 host with Winxp guest on Virtualbox 4.1.18. Suddenly mouse stopped working when had a USB modem attached in the host device and logged into winxp guest. Switced to host and detached the USB, tried using mouse but works only on alternative logins. What could be the problem?

Will upgrading to Virtualbox 4.1.20 with Extension Pack solve this problem?
