I have a question on VirtualBox’s “pause” functionality.
The user manual contains description of it in “Time synchronization”:
A VM could also be paused, which stops the flow of time in the guest for a shorter or longer period of time.
So I understand that the emulated VM (be it windows or linux)’s program counter would simply stop changing, that should be such “pause” is implemented in the lower level. Is it correctly?
I wonder if a consequence of program counter’s stop is the VM would no longer be monitoring the clipboard of the host. When the VM is running, I guess that the VM periodically copies the clipboard of the host to the guest system; when the guest system is paused, VirtualBox should have stopped doing that, or even if it continues monitoring the host’s clipboard, the guest won’t be able to see it because it has already been frozen and its clipboard can no longer be updated.
Am I getting it correctly?
