Bootable image from .iso

I would like to create a Windows 8 virtual machine but the VirtualBox Manager insists that the image be "bootable". What are the best ways to turn a .iso file into an image that can be used to create a VM?

Thank you.

???

If you have a original iso file from MS, then its always bootable.

What do you have?

I downloaded the .iso file from the Micorsoft site. Do I just use some virtual drive like PowerISO and load the .iso file there and point the VirtualDisk Manager at this virtual drive?
I will try this.

Thank you.

No. VirtualBox can read a .iso file directly. It is a virtual CD/DVD disk. Simply attach the .iso file to the CD\DCD drive of the vm, check that the vm is configured to boot from CD/DVD and start your vm. The vm will boot from the .iso file and run the installer.

If the .iso file you downloaded does not boot it is probably corrupt.
