Moving Ubuntu Server VM to new Windows host

First, a bit about my set up. I have a Windows 7 (64-bit) host with a Ubuntu Server 12.04 (32-bit) guest. I want to move the VM from one Windows host to another of the exact same type. I've tried numerous methods, including moving just the vdi file, to moving the whole folder, to exporting as an appliance. Now, getting the VM to start on the new host is not an issue at all. It turns on, boots to GRUB and lets me select the kernel version. It's at this point that the VM screen will go black and nothing further happens. In VirtualBox manager the VM is shown as running, but it isn't actually doing anything. What else could I try? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

What version of VirtualBox (in both machines)?

Sorry about that. The main machine is running 4.1.14 while the other (that is experiencing the problems) is running 4.1.18.

If the original was created using 4.* all you should need to do is copy the complete guest folder from the original to the new location and use the VirtualBox add feature to put it in the new machine Main Manager.

Pay close attention to the hardware-v settings on the new machine (bios). If it was on in the original it must be available on the new one as well.
