After installing Ubuntu 12.04 with the latest version of Virtualbox on a Windows 7 host. My internet connection on the host machine did not work. It showed that I was connected to the internet, and that my IP address was accurate (192.168.1.x), but none of the programs that required internet worked. However, the internet on my Ubuntu was working fine. What was the cause of it?
My network settings was 'NAT'. I had to uninstall Virtualbox, and roll back system restore in order to re-gain my internet access.
No Internet After Installing Virtualbox with Ubuntu
Re: No Internet After Installing Virtualbox with Ubuntu
No one can help me at all? I guess it's not a common issue.

Re: No Internet After Installing Virtualbox with Ubuntu
Actually no it is not that common. I would expect this if the host and guest were reversed since Ubuntu changed the way resolv.conf works, but this will not be the same with it as guest.
However then only thing that I have seen that might cause this is the host-only adapter that gets installed. Look in the Windows network and find the host-only. If you do not intend to use it disable it there and see if that makes you host work. A reboot may be needed. Actually a reboot may have been what you needed to do after installing the first time.

I actually did reboot, but the problem didn't go away. I'll try your method and see if it works.

Instead of uninstalling VirtualBox, in your "Network And Sharing Center" - "Network Adapters" settings, disable virtual box related network adapters and see if your internet connection comes back.
