Can't connect to internet from Windows 7 guest on Linux Mint

Post by James26 »

Hi everyone,

I've been playing around with the network settings for a while now, but I cant seem to connect to the internet from my WIndows 7 guest on a Linux Mint 13 host. Just have the "No internet access" message. Otherwise, sharing folders between the host and the guest is no problem.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
James.

From the hosts terminal/command window type VBoxManage showvminfo <VM Name> --details and post here. Replace <VM Name> with the actual name of the VM. Use " " if the name has a space in it.

Note if the host is Windows you need to be in the directory that has VBoxManage.exe for the command to work.

If you cannot ping yahoo.com but you can ping 72.30.38.140 then you have a DNS issue probably due to Ubuntu changing how they think resolv.conf should work (which is what Mint is based on). Follow the instructions on the link below.

Cheers Perryg, it worked a treat!
Thanks a lot for your help, I'm a newbie to Linux - Now I'm gonna go and familiarise myself with this resolv.conf.

Thanks again,
James.
