Cannot start any guest OS

Post by Pengwin »

I have just uninstalled and reinstalled VB, because, for some reason, it suddenly failed to start up any guest OS.
This didn't cure, the problem at all.

I am getting the following error when I try to start a VM:

It is not just for this session. I am getting this for any session.
They are brand new sessions where I am attempting to install a new OS into a VM.

Any ideas and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Run the Repair Disk Permissions using DIsk Utility on your MAC host then it should work.

I tried that, and the Disk Repair. Still no luck.

I ran into a similar situation. I am trying to install Windows XP as a guest OS (mac OS host) from my external hard drive. While trying to create my new VM, I chose "use an existing hard disk" (on my external hard drive). The file is called disk0.vmdk, however when I click on it I get the following error:

Callee RC: NS error failure (0x80004005)

What am I doing wrong? Should I have chosen "create a new hard disk" instead of "use an existing hard disk"?

Thanks,

Nick
