USB device only working on MAC. Does NOT work on windows

i have a NEAT desktop scanner it only works on the MAC side it doesnt work on windows.

help in the matter would be appreciated.

when i try to click on the Device from the device list it gives me this message

Try installing VirtualBox 4.1.18 Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack All platforms from the Downloads page.

In addition to installing the extension pack to get USB2 support, you will need a Windows driver for that device if you want your Windows guest to be able to use it.

And, don't ask why, you need to set Windows updater to download drivers automatically (default seems to be OFF), or download and install manually. I assumed, being mainly a Mac user but not a stranger to Windows, drivers would download with Windows updates! Microsoft don't treat drivers as an essential part of the OS update, it appears.
