Can't create new VB

Post by billejr »

I'm using Lion on my 21.5" iMac. when I try to create a new VB, I get this message: Cannot create the machine folder wes in the parent folder /Users/bnjinlv/VirtualBox VMs. Please check that the parent really exists and that you have permissions to create the machine folder.

I don't have a user named "bnjinlv" on my machine. Called Apple Tech Support and they can't offer any help.
Can I change the pointer that is looking for that user to the one that is actually on my iMac?

I also have a MacBook Air on which VB works correctly.

Any help appreciated.

I don't know about Mac hosts, but on Windows hosts the user documents folder is based on the login name of the current user. VirtualBox will be querying the host OS for the userdoc folder, and "/Users/bnjinlv/" is what it must be getting back. I suggest you have a close look at your user profile on that host. I'm surprised Apple support couldn't help you with this.
