Location of vdi file changed and receive error

Post by Pickle »

I migrated to a new Macbook Pro and cannot open my Windows XP session as I receive the error Could not open the medium '/Users/files/Library/VirtualBox/HardDisks/Windows Environement.vdi'

When I migrated the migration assistant put in a direct with my name; e.g. /Users/<my name>/Library/.... So since VirtualBox is looking to open the vdi file with the location referenced above it cannot find it. How do I change the location path the Windows XP is trying to read?

I saw an article and ticket# 9662 saying this was fixed by creating a soft link 'xp vm clone' to the correct directory. How do you create this soft link? Will it have issues in the future or is there another solution?

Any help greatly appreciated!

Actually I just fixed it! For those who may run into this in the future. Go into the virtual box xml file and change the path and then just save. (Make sure VB is shut down first). Everything should be good to go!
