web browsing fails when running VB on Win 7 Host

I'm at a loss and appreciate any help I can get.

I have a Win7 64 bit laptop that I use VB to run a lab system. The guest is windows XP.

The host laptop has 3 network adapters, internal wired & wirless and a USB NIC adapter for a local private network (static IP address).

My XP guest has 2 intel Pro 100 adapters configured, one is bridged to the private network and the other is bridged to the internal wired adapter.

Either of the internal adapters allow me to get to the internet. When VB (4.1.18 r78367) is running, the guest can see both configured LANS and I can use internet explorer to get to the internet. The problem is that I stop being able to browse to the internet on the host machine. If I had a connection already open, I can continue to hit that web site but I can't go anywhere else. Once I shut down the VB Guest, I it takes a few minutes and I can browse normally again.

I've tried turning off the bridge to the internal adapter, I've tried changing from bridged to NAT, I removed the host only adapter, about the only thing that works is completely disabling all networking.

any suggestions are appreciated.
