My installed apps can't find file path on internal Cdrive

Hi,
I am new to VirtualBox. I seemed to have a clean install of VB, made a win7 32 machine hosted on my new win7 64 bit host laptop. All went well.
However, I installed some of my development tools (RadPHP) and when I try to work with those, they can't seem to see files on the VB own internal CDrive.
I am not sharing any drives or anything (yet). I noticed that on one install of a program, it said it could not find a certain file path to a folder it needed to find, for the install to work. I can see these various folders, paths and files from the VB own windows explorer. They appear to me, the user, to be on the internal C drive of the VB.
Is there any advice on how to proceed. I googled searched this but could not manage to find anything. Its all about shared folder problems.
I really wanted to be able to install and run RadPHP and other development environments in a virtual machine, as different projects require setting and security. It does not appear to be a RadPHP problem spcifically, as other programs have similar issues.
Thanks,
Jamie
