Win 7 64 host Ubuntu 12.04 32 guest. In seamless mode there doesn't seem to be any way to launch any Ubuntu programs. No launcher or anything to click on.
What am I missing?

Re: Problem with seamless mode
You aren't missing anything that I can see - you have described the facts. If you want to use the Ubuntu desktop again then you need to come out of seamless mode. Seamless mode is a compromise, an illusion. Nobody said it was a perfect integration of host and guest.

Re: Problem with seamless mode
It does work better if your guest does not have compiz enabled or Unity 3d. Set it to Unity 2D and the launcher should be there.
Re: Problem with seamless mode
I think the problem with VirtualBox (I'm using version 4.2) seamless mode is related to Gnome 3. I tried Ubuntu 12.04 guess with Unity (based on Gnome 3), no luck. Tried Ubuntu with MATE (based on Gnome 2), no problems. Tried Mint 13 Cinnamon (based on Gnome 3), didn't work. Tried Mint with MATE (Gnome 2 base) and worked fine. Tried Ubuntu with Unity 2D (still Gnome 3 base) and it doesn't work either. I still need to test bare bones Gnome 2 and Gnome 3. Also probably a good idea to test Xfce.
But at least for now, you can get Ubuntu to work if you install any Gnome 2 based desktop (probably x terminal will work as well, just haven't tested it yet).
