Ima noob to Virtual box. Tried searching forum, don't see this other than various post of USB failures.
Fresh install Win XP SP3 guest on Win 7 64 host. All goes well - take snapshot. good.
tried adding USB drive, virtualbox locks up after discovering 4 media ports
will not respond, several - many attempts to kill process, finally stops.
Tried to restart, does not. Task manager shows 9 instances of virtualbox.exe running.
Is this normal behavior? ( an instance for possible each port, for example, still running?)

Re: WinXP guest locks - 9 VirtualBox.exe running?
No, that is not normal. VirtualBox.exe is the VM, not a USB filter (the USB filter is a device driver and hence will not be seen in the task list). Multiple VirtualBox.exe says to me that you were launching several VMs, or perhaps (and I'm not sure how this could be possible), several instances of one VM.
Post the VM log file please, as a zipped attachment. The VM log file is called "VBox.log", and can be found in the "Logs" subfolder of your VM folder.
