win98 install: screen garbage in some text mode steps

Hi
I'm trying to install Win98 SE under VirtualBox 4.1.18.
I boot up from an ISO image and after selecting the option to install from CD-ROM, the process finds succesfully the CD-ROM drive but the next screen is full of blue garbage
(see the attached snapshot).
I guess the failing step is the drive partitioning and formating.
I've tried other install options with the same garbage.
