Crash on login after Additions install and reboot - v4.1.18

Hi,

I used VirtualBox 4.1.18 to install an Ubuntu 12.04 client on Windows. After updating and reboot it functions probably, after installing the Additions from the VB menu and reboot it crashes on the login screen (input fields and background grid is shown, background isn't loaded).

Host: Win7 (32bit), ATI 6850 with Catalyst driver 12.6

It is realy annoying because the VM can't be restored. Is there a workaround?

Regards, svebor

Here is the log (there is log data from the running client and the crashed client - pre and post install of Additions)

After looking in the log myself and playing with my graphics settings I found it.

The default settings works fine.
Its a problem with some graphics settings working together:
- Vertical sync always on
- Anti-Aliasing in Super-Sampling mode
- OpenGL tripple buffering active
(to be found in the ATI Catalyst Control Center v12.6 -> Games -> 3D-Application-Settings)

I hope this helps others with similar problems or to solve this isue.
Perhaps it is only a ATI problem...?

Thx for the thought-provoking impulse, Perryg!
