So i'm running a winxp host 32bit and installed a win7 64bit guest. Which seemed to work fine just before i installed the guest additions. As soon as they got installed and it required a reboot, I got the message : failed to open a session for the virtual machine win7. details:
Result Code:
E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component:
Machine
Interface:
ISession {12f4dcdb-12b2-4ec1-b7cd-ddd9f6c5bf4d}
I'm attaching the log file...
can someone help ? Thanks in advance!

The error message means that VirtualBox can't even begin to launch the VM, which also means that the log is useless (shows last working session), and also that the guest additions are irrelevant - obviously that can't be running wrong if they aren't running at all.
"Failed to open a session" means something changed on the host which stopped the VBox service from working - the guest is unlikely to be relevant unless you can show that other VMs still work ok. You might try reinstalling VirtualBox.
Moving this topic to "Windows Hosts" since it's clearly a host issue.

should i try to reinstall the guest OS? i was just finishing the installation by adding the guest additions and a network folder.
edit: Yes my other VM ( a windows xp 32bit ) works fine!

Well, then I'm at a loss to explain it.
