Ubuntu as guest cannot be seen by other computers

Hi

The host system is windows 7 ultimate with ubuntu as the guest.

I want the guest system to be visible to other computers on my LAN. I have changed the network adapter settings in Virtualbox to Bridged but looking in network in win 7 the ubuntu system doesn't show up.

What else do I need to do to change this?

Thanks

Not really a VirtualBox issue. You need to get Ubuntu in the same workgroup.

Hint: samba

Thanks for the quick reply - I don't suppose you know how to do that as I'm trying out Linux for the first tome.

This is actually out of the scope of this froum since it really has nothing to do with VirtualBox.

Sign up here Ubuntu Forum and they will walk you through it or you can use the Ubuntu help which is very good.

There are plenty of howtos on the web but if you want it to be right go to the source.

Stick to it! Once you learn Linux you will never go back.
