Mac OS Snow Leopard Guest on a MAC OS Lion host

Post by betedeouf »

Hello,
Recently I bought a MAC Mini Mid 2011 for the work. It's running MAC OS Lion.
For testing applications, I need too to run MAC OS Snow Leopard 10.6.3 as well on it. I bought a retail license to do so.
So, after some researches, I saw it was not possible to do so doing a dual boot Lion/Leopard. Only Leopard/Lion from the 2010 models was possible :(

I thought then it could be possible to just visualize the MAC OS X Leopard on my Mac Mini running Lion.

However, after trying like 50 different configurations (not kidding...), I am still not able to even start the installer... :( :( :(

I got messages like this :
Unkown4 of GetVar called
(the website wont let me post urls for now)

and others that I will update later...

Is it possible to have some help on this ?

Settings :
MAC OS X Server (64 bits)
1 CPU
Memory 1024 MB
Video memory : 12 MB
IDE Controlers : 20 GB on the Hard drive
DVD : my cdr image of the Apple Snow Leopard I received

Please, help !

Thanks

Update :
I've been able to install MAX OS X Snow Leopard on a PC and a MAC Mini. The thing is that I had to use an ISO found on the web to do so.
Also the problem seem to be from the OFFICIAL MAC DVD :? I just cant virtualize MAC with my purchased legal license ! Frustrating !

It's perfectly possible to use official Apple DVDs, but they must be suitable for the host system which is running the VMs.

One common problem is that many older Leopard/Snow Leopard releases simply don't work on recent Macs because the CPU is "too new". The other is that discs that come with Macs are restricted to that specific model and won't work on another system (unless it's the same model of course).

In theory the web ISO and the DVD that gave me Apple are the same version of the MAC OS Snow Leopard.
I suppose the web one has some complementary drivers that allow it to run.

And from a Windows 7 workstation it should be doable then ?

No. The "web" bootleg ISO is not quite the same in that it's been hacked to bypass the installer checks that verify it's being installed on a Mac, and the boot checks that verify it's being booted from a Mac. Along with adding workarounds so that it will run on unsupported hardware.

We will not allow any discussion of that here, nor will we allow any discussion of how to get pirated code to work. Step carefully!

Ah. Anyway that's to run the MAC OS Leopard on the MAC Mini of 2011 (MAC OS Lion) with my Snow Leopard purchased license my main goal. Also it's not possible, that's it ?
