new added disk not shown

Post by zeeshan »

hi,

Using storage tree in Vm virtual box i have added two new disks but after that when i start my OS (solaris 10) and use format command it only shows my one disk not the added disk which i add in storage. Any idea why the additional disk are not shown .

Thanks

Moved to "Solaris Guests", since the Windows Host is irrelevant to the question asked.

As to the question, I'm not familiar with Solaris guests, so others may wish to comment. However in Windows you just run the "Disk Manager" applet, at which point it automatically notices that a disk has been added and needs to be initialized. On Solaris you probably have to do something to add new storage space the ZFS filesystem (if that's what you're using).

You need to mount the drive/s before they will be available.
Google mount second drive in solaris 10
